FPMT Charitable Projects


The charitable projects of the FPMT span the globe. Through these projects the costs for building construction and maintenance, education, and living expenses are provided for the support of the students and teachers of the Dharma and the preservation of the Mahayana Tradition throughout the world.

Amdo Eye Center
(Qinghai Woeser Cataract Treatment Center)
Every five seconds, a person  goes blind, yet with access to quality eye care, 80% of the world’s blindness would be totally avoidable. The prevalence of blindness in Amdo is four times higher than the national average. Therefore, the need is urgent for accessible eye care. That is why FPMT is building the Qinghai Woeser Cataract Treatment Center in the city of Xining. more...
Animal Liberation Sanctuary
The Animal Liberation Sanctuary is a 13-acre park that is being created on land adjacent to Kopan Monastery in Nepal. The object of the sanctuary is to house animals that were to be killed so that they may live out the natural course of their lives in peace and gain a higher rebirth. Lama Tsongkhapa Teachers Fund
FPMT directly preserves the Mahayana tradition by supporting the great masters who hold teachings and practices that have come in an unbroken line from Lama Tsongkhapa to the present. The Lama Tsongkhapa Teachers Fund provides a monthly stipends for the masters of the great Gelug monasteries, places where our own teachers learned and practiced. more...

Tsum
In 2003, Lama Zopa Rinpoche was requested by Drukpa Rinpoche, a Bhutanese Lama, to take care of his remote monastery and nunnery in the Tsum valley, located in the northern border area of Nepal close to Tibet. The monks and nuns of the two places were in desperate need of help, being unable to support themselves any longer. Lama Zopa Rinpoche asked Tenzin Zopa, a disciple of Geshe Lama Konchok, to take on the task of finding support for the people of Tsum. more...
