FPMT Charitable Projects
The charitable projects of the FPMT span the globe. Through these projects, FPMT offers the cost for food, building construction and maintenance of hospitals, animal shelters, and holy objects. We provide education to beginners through to advanced practitioners and translation of important texts into more than ten languages. And we support the ordained Sangha and the great lineage masters of the Dharma in the tradition’s major monasteries, as well as in the West. The charitable projects of FPMT preserve and spread the Mahayana tradition throughout the world. Please visit some of our main projects below.
Current Priorities
The Sera Je Food Fund offers 3 meals a day to the 2600 monks who are studying at Sera Je Monastery. The Sera Je Food Fund has been offering the food for the last 18 years and ensures that the monks have well-balanced, nutritious meals. more...
The FPMT Puja Fund sponsors ongoing prayer ceremonies (pujas) at many different monasteries in India and Nepal. Building a hospital in Xining, the capitol of Amdo, Tibet, to provide continuous, sustainable and quality eye care. The hospital will provide high quality cataract surgery and general eye care to all, in particular those from underprivileged backgrounds. The Animal liberation fund is for buying animals that are going to be killed; they are rescued and circumambulated around holy objects in order to plant the seeds of enlightenment in their minds. They receive blessings from blessed water, prayers are said for their good rebirths and then these creatures are released into safe environments to live out their natural lives. more...
The Animal Liberation Sanctuary is a 13-acre park that is being created on land adjacent to Kopan Monastery in Nepal. The object of the sanctuary is to house animals that were to be killed so that they may live out the natural course of their lives. more...

The Lama Tsong Khapa fund provides a monthly stipends for the past and present Abbotts and main teachers of Sera, Drepung, Ganden, and Tashi Lhunpo monasteries, and Gyume and Gyuto tantric colleges This fund also covers the cost of the annual winter debate where the best scholars gather to debate and hone their understanding of the Buddha’s highest teachings. more...
The International Mahayana Institute has established the Lama Yeshe Sangha Fund (LYSF), which, with the support of generous benefactors, is helping IMI sangha become properly qualified to teach and serve sentient beings. The Maitreya Statue is a magnificent 500ft/152m bronze statue in the form of Maitreya Buddha. In 2003, Lama Zopa Rinpoche was requested by Drukpa Rinpoche, a Bhutanese Lama, to take care of his remote monastery and nunnery in the Tsum valley, located in the northern border area of Nepal close to Tibet. The monks and nuns of the two places were in desperate need of help, being unable to support themselves any longer. Lama Zopa Rinpoche asked Tenzin Zopa, a disciple of Geshe Lama Konchok, to take on the task of finding support for the people of Tsum. more...
