Regarding the benefits of inviting His Holiness to teach, at CPMT in 2004 Lama Zopa Rinpoche said:

To invite His Holiness where a thousand people can receive very enlightening teaching, this is a very quick way to spread Dharma to sentient beings, to reach sentient beings, a quick way. Within a short time people get depth and a very wide view of Buddhism, so there’s incredible benefit, unforgettable happiness, peace they receive - they get so much in a short time. So to continue this in the future, to provide requests for initiations, teachings, to request His Holiness, and especially where His Holiness hasn’t been, put the holy feet there, where there has not been teaching at all, especially in those places to give this opportunity to those sentient beings. So this is a very important, most important function of the organization, something dynamic that in a short time can enable BuddhaDharma to reach so many sentient beings.
–Lama Zopa Rinpoche

An FPMT Geshe Conference will be held in Sarnath following the teachings, Dec 22nd - 24th.
