• MAITRI pre- and post-natal care programme covers the province of Bodhgaya and has been in operation since 1997
• MAITRI currently provides weekly drop-in clinics for expectant mothers

MAITRI Child Immunization programme

• MAITRI Child Immunization programme covers the province of Bodhgaya and has been in operation since July, 2004.
• MAITRI runs the programme on behalf of the government health services.
• MAITRI receives the vaccines from the government.
• MAITRI currently provides weekly drop-in clinics for little children, from birth to 5 years of age.
• MAITRI provides children with free immunization against polio, TB, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, measles, mumps, and rubella.
• MAITRI administers also Vitamin A.
• MAITRI utilizes its field staff to create awareness on the indispensability of child immunization in the villages of Bodhgaya province.

• MAITRI motivates parents from all castes to avail themselves of the immunization service.

MAITRI Birth Control programme

• MAITRI Birth Control programme covers the provinces of Bodhgaya, Mohanpur and Barachatti and has been in operation since 1999.
• MAITRI has been running the programme at our weekly mother care clinics at its headquarters since 1999.
• MAITRI offers contraception advice and methods to its patients at the mother and child care clinics.
• MAITRI offers post-operative assistance to women willing to undergo tubectomy.
• MAITRI has been running public awareness campaigns in villages through its field staff to create awareness on the indispensability of birth control to enhance health in the family and in the community since March, 2004.

MAITRI Birth Control programme: measurable outcomes and impact

• MAITRI has to date contacted 155 villages, population 145,000.
• MAITRI has provided contraceptive pills to 37 women.

MAITRI Birth Control programme: the road ahead

• MAITRI is planning to contact the entire population of the provinces of Bodhgaya, Mohanpur, and Barachatti in the public awareness campaign.
• MAITRI is planning to contact the male population for targeted motivation and awareness.
• With your support all people from rural areas will be motivated to exercise birth control.
• With your support more women, who currently do not have access to MAITRI’s assistance for contraception, will acquire a fundamental right - the right to better quality of life for themselves and their children...
