- MAITRI HIV/AIDS Awareness programme covers the provinces of Bodhgaya, Mohanpur and Barachatti and has been in operation since May, 2004.
- MAITRI HIV/AIDS Awareness programme targets mainly truck drivers along the Delhi-Calcutta highway.
MAITRI HIV/AIDS Awareness programme: measurable outcomes and impact
- MAITRI has to date contacted 75 villages and the restaurants along the interstate Delhi-Calcutta road and other roads within Gaya district, thus reaching 15,000 people and 1,021 truck drivers and over 1,000 male villagers.
- MAITRI has provided information regarding sexually-transmitted diseases and their prevention.
- MAITRI has provided 2,830 condoms to 1,225 men.
MAITRI HIV/AIDS Awareness programme: the road ahead
- MAITRI is planning to contact the entire population of the provinces of Bodhgaya, Mohanpur and Barachatti in the public awareness campaign.
- MAITRI is planning to contact prostitution areas of Gaya Town.
- MAITRI is planning to particularly provide vital information on sexually-transmitted diseases to women in villages – young girls and housewives alike.
- With your support all people from rural areas will be motivated to exercise precaution against the spreading of HIV/AIDS.
- With your support more men and women, who currently do not have access to MAITRI’s awareness campaigns, will acquire a fundamental right - the right to information required for a life free from life-threatening sexually transmitted diseases.
