This page contains links to the downloadable PDF documents of the HOPE Packet of materials for when there is an immediate need to benefit the dying and the dead. For less urgent situations, it is advised to get the entire book, Advice and Practices for Death and Dying that includes, in addition to the practices below, advices and commentary by lama Zopa Rinpoche as well as the Jangwa ceremony to purify the consciousness of the one who has passed away.
Documents are presented here for you to download in two formats of two paper sizes. Choose either American letter-size (81/2" x 11") or international A4-size paper. Booklet masters create either half-letter-size (51/2" x 81/2") or A5-size booklets. Reader spreads print pages in consecutive order for ease of reading only, not for creating folded booklets. Instructions for printing appear below.

Instructions
Copies should be made double sided. As an example: for an 8-page booklet, pages 1 and 8 are paired on one page and printed together, then pages 2/7, 3/6, and 4/5. Thus, pages 1/8 are copied with pages 2/7 on the reverse side. Then pages 3/6 are copied with pages 4/5 on the reverse side. These are then assembled in order and folded in half. These same principles apply no matter how long the booklet. We have organized all booklets with even pages so that booklets may be created easily. The specifics of how to accomplish this with one's particular photocopy machine will differ from machine to machine.
Before Printing
When the file is open in Acrobat, click on FILE, then PAGE SETUP. Select the proper paper size: A4 or Letter. Next, click on PROPERTIES (this may vary from computer to computer; it may also be called ADVANCED). Be sure the layout orientation is LANDSCAPE.
